‘Granma Dolly Gi Tori’ (2022)
Installation View – ‘Granma Dolly Gi Tori’ – The Black Archives
The interdisciplinary installation ‘Granma Dolly Gi Tori’ is inspired by a a story that Linger’s grandma Dolly still often tells. about his first visit to his motherland Suriname as a three-year-old. The installation contains products that are ritually used in the Winti religion. For Linger, Winti is a means to (re)connect with his roots and recurs in all his artworks. The long side of the sandbox is Linger’s own length, an hommage to the Surinamese artist Stanley Brouwn.
